2022 Firesteed Pinot Gris Horse Heaven Hills
Tasting Notes:
Pale in color and very aromatic, the 2022 Firesteed Pinot Gris shows fresh floral aromas with hints of tropical fruit on the nose. Bursting with natural acidity the palate is light and crisp, with a great balance of fresh peach, citrus, pear, and tart green apple. Finishing with notes of minerality and a lovely silky texture showcases the quintessential character of classic Pacific Northwest Pinot Gris.
Vineyard Notes:
Planted in 1997, Wallula Vineyard, “The Benches”, is one of the top growing sites in the Horse Heaven Hills AVA. Carved out of steep, south-facing slops along the Columbia River, the vineyard is comprised of 27 geologically formed “benches” created 20,000 years ago by the Great Missoula Floods. With the highest elevation sitting at just under 1400 feet from sea level, it’s the perfect location for growing top aromatic varietals such as Pinot Gris.
Winemaker Notes:
By carefully selecting the highest quality grapes from Wallula Vineyard and avoiding heavy handed winemaking techniques, we hope to achieve a balanced wine focused on the abundant varietal fruit character of this classic grape.
