Firesteed Willamette Valley Pinot Noir
In 2009, after a successful bloom and fruit-set, a hot July and warm August helped grapes ripen through the summer. Harvest began in the last week of September and continued well into October, dodging a few drops of rain here and there.
Select lots of prime Willamette Valley Pinot Noir grapes were chosen to be fermented in small vessels with a high percentage of berries remaining whole. After fermentation the young wine was gently pressed into new, one, two and three-year old French oak barrels for 12-16 months of aging. The top-quality barrels were then selected and blended together for this cuvee.
Lively aromas of raspberry and dark cherry contribute to the 2009 Firesteed Willamette Valley Pinot Noir’s classic combination of fresh fruit and earthy elements. The wine’s broad mouthfeel and smooth tannins will continue to integrate as this elegant wine ages.
